Festival Extra WOOL na Covilhã
Até dia 25 de outubro a Covilhã acolhe mais um WOOL – Festival de Arte Urbana da Covilhã. São duas as paredes do centro histórico que serão renovadas com uma pintura assinada pelos artistas Pantónio e Samina.
Esta é uma edição de pequena dimensão devido aos cortes orçamentais que o Festival sofreu, apelidando-se Extra Wool, já que a organização não quis deixar de fazer algumas intervenções e contribuir para revitalizar o Centro Histórico da Covilhã.
Os artistas são convidados a captar a essência do que é o local e a cidade.
As paredes a serem intervencionadas situam-se na Rua Direita e junto à Igreja de Santa Maria.
Esperam-se trabalhos de grande qualidade à semelhança de outros que já existem e que foram distinguidos como sendo das melhores e mais populares peças de arte urbana.
O WOOL – Festival de Arte Urbana da Covilhã propõe-se utilizar diversas paredes da cidade como suporte para intervenções de artistas urbanos com o objetivo de potenciar este tipo de evento no interior, aproveitando para despertar o interesse da comunidade pela cultura e a arte contemporânea, dotando de uma nova aparência estética os locais intervencionados e permitir construir um roteiro de arte urbana na cidade.
O processo de criação pode ser acompanhado ao vivo pelo público.
O nome do Festival está intimamente ligado ao passado têxtil da cidade, e o facto de ser em Inglês – WOOL – que em português quer dizer Lã, proporciona ainda a possibilidade do jogo de palavras com o seu quase homófono WALL que quer dizer Parede em Português.
Pantónio nasceu nos Açores e desde cedo que é um apaixonado pela arte, tendo já ganho vários prémios pelos seus trabalhos. Em 2011 e 2012 participa no Festival de Arte Urbana Walk&Talk Açores, na residência artística ARTUR e na exposição colectiva de artistas urbanos, “Além Paredes” da Galeria António Prates. Em 2013 expõe série de pintura, em Lisboa, chamada “IR” e seguidamente “IRA”. Desde então, têm circulado por todo o mundo pintando grandes murais, integrando projectos de destaque! Um trabalho para se acompanhar bem de perto pelo centro da Covilhã, na Rua Direita.
Samina está a trabalhar no centro histórico da cidade (Rua das Portas do Sol nº 87) e por lá deixará a sua marca única, com um trabalho que procura diferentes e empolgantes formas de expressar a sua visão de espaço e que permanentemente desafia a técnica do stencil, resultando em obras complexas e emocionantes, que refletem igualmente o conflito entre a geometria rígida e a forma natural do ser humano.
Um trabalho que se baliza entre as suas raízes na Arquitetura, o seu interesse pelo Design Gráfico e os anos de constante procura de algo novo pelas ruas de Lisboa.
Desde 2010, colaborou com inúmeros artistas em vários projetos de destaque que decorreram em países com Espanha, França, Países Baixos, Brasil, Turquia e Índia.
