O calendário marca a data.

Falta apenas um dia para a noite mais mágica do ano. Nas Beiras o frio não aperta como em anos anteriores. Parece que a tradição meteorológica já não é o que era, mas há tradições que não se podem perder.

O dia 24 é um dia especial em todo o país, e todas as terras têm a sua tradição, por cá há uma marcação na agenda de todos, a visita ao Madeiro.

Temos encontro marcado, já sabem, e não interessa se as filhoses têm de ser fritas, o largo frente à igreja da Misericórdia é o ponto de encontro que nos atrai a todos para aquecermos o corpo e a alma.

Às 17h00 o fogo é ateado e espera-se que as labaredas sejam altas, assim como a esperança para mais um ano que nos espera. A tradição do Madeiro perde-se no tempo, com ele celebra-se a natividade, a união e o espírito de comunidade. Partilham-se bebidas, mais ou menos espirituosas, abraços e conversas. Reencontra-se os amigos, os novos e os velhos, e animam-se os espíritos. Esqueçamos as agruras da vida.
